Emotional Life: Creating Peace and Joy – Category #3
We are starting a new week on the Lifebook program. I’m starting to see the value of this, regardless of how challenging and frustrating the process is right now. Even though I haven’t reviewed once my answer from last week (Going Deep into Health and Fitness & Intellectual Life, Finding Myself), I do feel a change happening in my subconscious. Perhaps it’s due to the awesome Open Mics in Boulder that I attended last week.
In the meantime, I’ve been learning that Transcendental Meditation is an easy approach to meditation and that it is supposed to be easy and effortless. Beyond that, Joe Dispensas guided meditations are supposed to be amazing. Planning on trying one of them soon. Massage and bodywork are transcendental too. Everyone has their own best type of meditation.
Aside from that, the three rules of logic are: First, things are what they are. A thing is itself. Things don’t randomly become something else. Words are not weapons, words are words, that can be used as weapons. A=A. This at least applies to the material world, may not apply on other worlds. The second law of logic is the law of non- contradiction. A thing cannot be itself and not itself at the same time and in the same respect. No contradictions in the physical world, you can see it from different angles and viewpoints, but there is no pure contradiction of something being itself and not being itself at the same time. Differentiate between good ideas and bad ideas. We don’t go to school for knowledge anymore, everything is in Google, now is time to teach wisdom, character values, self-esteem, ways to navigate knowledge to get to a better place in life. Drop out of the current culture, do it your own way.
Beware of cause and effect, apply logic to your life. Rules are clear, if you break them, you deal with the consequences. Own your life, be responsible. The spiritual world may be unknown, but the physical world is known and we got to work with what is in front of us. The universe is a knowable place, go find what you know and work with it. Get out of the irrational world and get a solid foothold to make a better life for yourself.
Finally, we need to balance the amount of input and output that flows through our mind. Let’s see what we got for this week’s Emotional Life category.
Emotional Life Category
Emotions are there to tell us something, they are a call to action. Fear tells you to run, anger tells your boundaries are being crossed, pleasurable emotions tell us to do more of the same. Emotions are direct, intense and hard-wired. Emotions are faster and deeper than intellect, but they are not always right. We need to check our feelings with our brains and make sure they are in harmony. Acknowledge your emotions to become intimately connected with yourself, find out what they are telling you, be willing to listen to your feelings and emotions, find out what clues they are giving you. Do not push emotions away, the more you push it, the louder it becomes so that it can be heard. Once we hear the emotion it will dissipate.
Emotional states can be created consciously, you can choose your emotions from moment to moment. We can create emotions by doing things, emotions have recipes. Surround yourself with the things that bring about the emotions you want. There are recipes for every emotion available. Choose the emotional state you want to experience, create environments for them and pass on negative emotions. When stress, disappointment, anger, and frustration come, when trauma explodes on your life, you have the power to control the emotions you have by controlling your actions. Think and do the things that make you feel the way you want to. Manage and master this process, become aware of your emotions., create the emotional states you want.
Emotional Life Premise
Your Premise refers to the foundational beliefs you hold about this category. What do you believe? What deeply held beliefs are shaping your life? Are your beliefs empowering? Do they move you at a deep level or are they holding you back? What is your Premise for this area of your life, or what would you like it to be?
1) I am aware of my emotions and know what they mean. I listen and feel my emotions to know what I want and need. I love my feelings because they tell me who I am, what is going on and what I want.
2) I am in control of my emotions by controlling my environment or the environment I choose to be in. I choose healthy environments that will bring positive emotions and change my environment when they don’t.
3) I am able to snap out of negative spiraling emotions. I am able to be with other peoples emotions without getting sucked into them and without losing my energy around them. I can shield myself from other people’s emotions.

Focusing on New Empowering Beliefs
At the end of the homework we were asked to answer the following question:
What limiting BELIEFS did you discover? What are your new empowering beliefs?
Now I believe I can feel better in any moment, just by focusing on feeling better. I know I have the power to feel better and I believe I am using it already, in this moment to improve my life. I look at the things that cause me the most pain and I take care of them.
